Lila's Visit to the Doctor

Lila woke up with a heavy heart. Today was the day she had to go to the doctor. She didn’t like the doctor’s office because it smelled funny and looked too bright. “Why is everything so white?” she muttered. Her mom noticed Lila’s frown and knelt beside her. “It’s

okay, Lila. The doctor just wants to help you feel better,” she said softly. Lila sighed and nodded, but still felt scared. Hopping into the car, she took a deep breath. “What if it hurts?” she wondered, glancing out the window at the passing trees.

When they arrived at the office, Lila’s legs felt wobbly like jelly. The waiting room was filled with other children, some smiling and others looking nervous, just like her. Lila picked up a bright yellow toy and squeezed it tight. “What if they poke me with a needle?” she

whispered. Just then, a friendly nurse called out, “Lila! It’s your turn!” Lila’s mom gave her hand a little squeeze. "You’re so brave, sweetie. We can do this together," she reassured her. Lila took a deep breath and stepped forward, feeling a tiny bit stronger.

Inside the doctor’s room, everything looked even brighter. Lila noticed a big poster of a friendly dinosaur on the wall. The doctor walked in wearing a big smile and a cozy white coat. “Hello, Lila! It’s nice to meet you,” he said with a warm voice. Lila wanted to

smile back but felt the butterflies in her tummy dancing. “What brings you here today?” he asked gently. “I don’t feel good, and I’m scared of shots,” Lila admitted quietly. The doctor nodded. “That's okay! We’ll take good care of you,” he said.

With her mom holding her hand, Lila sat on the examination table. The doctor checked her heart and listened to her breathing. When it was time for the shot, Lila squeezed her eyes shut. “Just breathe, Lila,” her mom whispered. Lila puffed out her cheeks and

took a deep breath in. Suddenly, she felt a tiny pinch, and it was over! “Wow! That was quick!” she gasped, surprised. The doctor smiled, “You did wonderfully, Lila! You’re so brave!” Lila smiled back, her heart feeling lighter than before.

After the appointment, Lila and her mom walked back to the car. Lila smiled wide and said, “That wasn’t so bad, Mom!” Her mom giggled, “I knew you could do it!” As they drove home, Lila thought of the friendly doctor and the silly dinosaur on

the wall. “Next time, I won’t be so scared,” she declared proudly. With a happy heart and a little wave goodbye to the doctor’s office, Lila realized that sometimes, facing your fears can lead to a bright and sunny day.
